3x3 Eyes, or Sazan Eyes, is a short anime series that originated as a manga by Yuzo Takada (who also created Blueseed and Nukunuku, among other titles). It consisted of two OAV series; the first created in 1991 had four episodes, and the second series created in 1995 had three, giving an ending to the unfinished first series. It also spawned several soundtracks, and a few video games.
3x3 Eyes is of the fantasy/horror genre - it had a good bit more blood and violence than many animes I've seen. It tells the tale of the last girl of the Sanjiyan race, Pai, and her quest for humanity. With the help of her newly-found friend/servant Yakumo, the two go in search of a statue that will supposedly turn Pai human. I quite liked this series, only real downpoint was the blood and gore, which I'm not generally a big fan of. It didn't detract too much from the series tho, and aside from this it was quite a good anime - nothing outstanding, but a good watch (however not recommended for younger audiences).
