Rurouni Kenshin OAV .. Introduction

Originally known in Japanese as the Rurouni Kenshin OAV, some may be more familiar with the western title, Samurai X. The series consists of the first OAV series "Tsuiokuhen" (memories arc), a four-episode series created as a pre-setting to the Kenshin TV series. It is then followed by a second two-episode set to finish the story, "Seisouhen".

Rurouni Kenshin is loosely based on Japanese history, telling the tale of the Hitokiri Battousai "Kenshin"; from his childhood, through his training, and the hand he had in the revolution to bring the Meiji back into power. From the beginning, it carefully works together the harsh reality of Kenshin and his bloody work; the peace he finds in Tomoe, and finally the climax to the story as he must face the results of the actions he has committed. The second OAV continues the story of his aging, and his repentance of his past in the original OAV series. While the series is somewhat violent in parts, this adds to the reality of the tale; and together with music and stunning animation, this is definitely a series not to be missed.
